working together

how do we start working together?

It all starts when you get in touch with me. We’ll discuss your needs and how I can help. Everyone is different and I tailor how I work with every student so that the experience is as smooth and stress-free as possible.

where do you tutor?

Most clients prefer in-person sessions so I’ll visit your house for a one hour lesson. I bring all the resources needed for the planned lessons - we just need some table space and you need a calculator! If the lesson is for an under-eighteen, another adult must be present in the house during each session.

I work in Henley-on-Thames and right across South Oxfordshire.

During the holidays in the run-up to exams, I also offer revision classes in Henley for small groups of students and you can see these by checking out Classes @ Easter.

HOW OFTEN WILL WE SEE YOU?

Weekly or fortnightly sessions are best - it gives us the best opportunities possible to build on technique and knowledge and the routine is also important.

We can arrange blocks of lessons at times that work for us all so you know exactly what’s happening and when and I’m very happy to arrange an introductory session so we can get to know each other before you secure more sessions in my diary.

What else do we need to know about you?

I’ve been a classroom maths teacher in the independent sector for 17 years and I’ve been a private tutor for 3 years, teaching thousands of children of this time. I’ve worked as a housemaster in a boarding school and I’ve overseen maths programmes in a Swiss summer school.

As you’d expect, I carry an enhanced DBS certificate and you’re very welcome to see this, please just let me know and I can bring it to our first session.

Away from teaching, I’m a rowing coach and umpire. I’m also vice-chair of an educational charity and have been Chair of Governors at my local primary school.
